Upcycling furniture with a storage unit in Vienna: the easiest ideas
Don't throw away furniture – store it, upcycle it and give it a fresh look. The best ideas.
Fun DIY project for the whole family
Fancy a bit of DIY fun this weekend? You don't need to be a professional craftsperson. With these 5 ideas, turning old furniture into stylish, unique pieces is genuinely easy. Save yourself a trip to the tip and transform your old furniture into something you'll love all over again.
Turn a coffee table into an ottoman
Does your old coffee table have stains or unsightly water rings? Instead of buying a new one, treat your old coffee table to a facelift with padding and a trendy fabric.
Pick a nice upholstery fabric, grab a staple gun, and attach foam padding and the lovely fabric to the surface of the old coffee table. Paint the legs in a matching colour – and you're done. As soon as the paint is dry, you can put your feet up.
And if you end up missing your coffee table after all, simply place a tray on the ottoman to create a convenient surface for your coffee or wine.
Turn an old cot into a bench
When children outgrow their cot, the bed usually just gathers dust in the attic. But who would have thought that a cot can be turned into an elegant bench in no time? Simply remove the side rails on one side – and you have a bench.
Make sure to test the strength of the wood before sitting down. You might need to replace the legs and base with thicker wood.
Turn a door into a dining table
Traditional dining tables are out. Turn your dining room into a space full of character by dining at an extraordinary table made from an old door. All the hipster cafes are doing it! Grab a set of table legs from a hardware or furniture store and attach them to the old door. If you prefer a sleeker finish, place a glass panel over the door for a smooth surface. If you don't have an old door on hand, visit your local second-hand shop or recycling market. You'll be amazed at what you can find.
Headboard made from a tall window frame (or arched window)
Find your bed setup a bit boring? Well, if you have a few old window frames (the quirkier and shabbier, the better), you've just invented a creative headboard. Sand down the window frame (arched windows look particularly lovely, check Pinterest) and repaint the wood. The shabby chic look is also highly recommended and adds charm to any bedroom.
Then use nails or heavy-duty double-sided tape to attach the window frame to the wall directly above the bed.
Turn an old sideboard into a TV unit – and move the old TV unit to the storage unit
Thinking about getting rid of your old sideboard? Not so fast: a solid sideboard painted in crisp white or your favourite colour makes an ideal TV unit or chest of drawers for the kids. All you need to do is remove a few drawers to create shelves for DVDs, gaming consoles or storage baskets.
And if you want to store your furniture with us in a storage unit in Vienna, we are here for you.
